The course is arranged to provide a basis for practice as an artist. In the first year students study modules in multimedia and painting and take one or more modules of their choice. As the course progresses students increasingly take responsibility for the direction of their studio practice and begin to engage in critical debate both within the studio and the research seminar and contextual studies programme. Trips to art galleries and museums are regular and a mandatory study trip abroad takes place in year two.
