Risk Management incorporates all the activities required to identify and control an organisation’s exposure to risk. Risk Management starts at corporate/strategic level, where managing risk should be an intrinsic part of achieving sustainable growth in stakeholder value. It then cascades to programme, project and operational levels, where management of risk must inform and influence all day-to-day activities. MoR, or Management of Risk, is a framework, developed by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) that helps organisations manage risk in a balanced and consistent manner. MoR is based upon proven Best Practice and a broad historical body of knowledge. It embodies a methodical, yet pragmatic approach to risk analysis and management. It sets out a framework that enables informed decisions to be made about all types of risk, with systematic processes for identification and evaluation and for mitigation and/or avoidance plans to be formulated.
